LO4 - Post-Production - Sound report (P6,M3)

In this screenshot, I have used this site to download my music I needed for my ident. I needed to convert my music track into an MP3 file so that I can insert it in my ident. All I needed to do is copy the YouTube link and insert it into the converter, after that I can click the quality I would like and then download it. An example of when I used this was trying to use the ident music for the background. This is because BBC One uses this track for it's idents and I wasn't able to find the track on Final Cut Pro. For this reason I had used this website to convert the YouTube track and converted it to an MP3 version so that I can add it in my idents. 

In this screenshot I have opened iTunes. This is because I have downloaded the music. This means I can drag the track to Final Cut Pro and insert it into my ident. An example of when I used this is having the sound of children playing football. However, I had to make changes to my ident so this is why I did not end up using this for my final version of my ident. But if I did not like the music I could use the shop on iTunes to buy the track. 

In this screenshot, I can see a variety of sounds I can use. This will help me as I can chose a variety of music to use and therefore it will help me decide which ones to go for. Moreover in this screenshot there is recordings of my voiceovers. This allows me to insert them in my ident. An example of this is the first track of sound in the top-left hand corner of the screenshot. This was to allow me to use the music well and listen to it before I placed it in. If I didn't like it I could change it to the other sounds and tracks in the screenshot shown above. One feature that is useful is seeing how loud each music and voiceover is. This allows me to determine wether or not I need to decrease or increase the sound so that the audience can see it. 

LO4 - Post-Production - Process report (P6,M3)

In this screenshot shows the following steps of me uploading my idents. In this particular screenshot I had to upload my first final ident. What I needed to do is create the file as a master file. This is so then I can upload the video in the best quality possible. Once it had processed, I had then had to go onto the next step which is going on settings and changing the video code. This is so then it can read the file properly and deliver my final ident correctly. Finally after I had pressed next I had to save my video somewhere save so that I would know where it would be so that I can show it on YouTube. Luckily I had saved it on my desktop and named it "Ident 1 final". This is so then I can safely know where it is and how to get to the file. 

In this screenshot it shows me uploading on YouTube. In this instance, I had needed to post my final ident. I first uploaded the video to this platform and it's starting to show it being uploaded in the bottom part of the screenshot. I had to also rename the ident as it had a different name on it. Furthermore, I had to decide whether or not my ident was for kids or not. As it is going to be shown and broadcasted on TV, it is for everyone. This is why I pressed "No it's not for kids". There are other steps in the screenshot that has been shown that I had to complete in order for my idents to be uploaded well.

LO4 - Analysis and application of findings Part 2 (P6,M3)

I was able to collect feedback from my teacher and she said that to improve my ident I will need to do the following: 

Ident 1.

• When London eye comes on have the music comes on the music come on earlier. 
• What has the football got to do with anything?
• The transition to the same shot is weird.
• Is walking scene supposed to be a shot from Homes Under The Hammer?

Ident 2.

• Again, start the music on the second shot earlier. 
• Time lapse is amazing. Get rid of the water effect. 
• Get rid of the text about "Now it's time for". 
• Why do we get a random shot of three people? 
• With the voiceover you stated, "We will be with you in just a few.". You will need to get rid of it or replace it with something different as BBC One is very formal. 
• Why are there 3 people on the computer?
• There should be a logo at the end, the same as BBC One. 

To improve my ident, I will use these improvements as my teacher's feedback was useful and made sense.

LO4 - Analysis and application of findings Part 1 (P6,M3)

From my audience research I was able to find out what went well and what needs to be improved in both of my idents. The following feedback I collected was:

Ident 1

What went well?

• Video footage match the storyboard. 
• Made sense.  
• The music selected suited the ident. 

What needs to be improved?

• The chiming of Big Ben needs to be shortened 
• Add a voiceover 
• Extend the music 
• Smoother transitions
• Add music track to match what programme is coming on next. e.g Homes Under The Hammer  

Ident 2

What went well?

• Video footage match the storyboard. 
• Made sense.  
• The timings of Big Ben were accurate. 

What needs to be improved?

• Blur the vehicle number plates and drivers.
• Add text to the background at the end stating BBC One. 
• Get rid of the "Next up" and replace it with something better.
• The chiming of Big Ben needs to be shortened 
• Add a voiceover 

When considering the improvements of the idents I am going to only improve the following:

Ident 1 

• The chiming of Big Ben needs to be shortened 
• Add a voiceover 
• Extend the music 
• Smoother transitions

Ident 2

• Get rid of the "Next up" and replace it with something better.

Reasons why I decided not to improve the other improvements: 

The reasons why I decided not to improve the other improvements (Blur the vehicles and adding a sound track for ident 1) is due to the time I have left of the project. With blurring the vehicles I feel like it is doable but it can be very time consuming, delaying the project and not being able to meet the deadline. In regards of adding a sound track, as much as I think it is a very good improvement, I think it would be similar with ident 2. I want to make sure that when I am creating these idents I want them to have a little contrast but differentiate from each other.

LO4 - Post-Production - Edits and Transitions report (P6,M3)

Shown below are photos that have been taken during the editing stages of the making of the idents.

In this screenshot, I have started to edit my ident. Here you can see that I have started to add all my footage that I am going to use. If I didn't like the footage, I have more footage available that I can drag on in the footage section. I had also started to add transitions to help make my ident more exciting. Furthermore, in this screenshot you can also see that I have started to mute all of the footage. This is because I can then add my music that I am going to use but also add in my voiceover. For example when I was switching scenes from Big Ben to the London Eye, I needed to ensure that the Big Ben chime did not clash with the music playing in the background. This is why I had to mute some portion of the chime so that the music comes in nicely and doesn't clash. Another reason why I had done this is so that there won't be any clashes with the ident music or the footage noise. I have also started to add in my red background to show my channel logo as well as me adding in the music and voiceover. I decided to add these in to strengthen my ident and make it more exciting.    

In this picture, I have placed all my footage that I am going to use in my ident. I have also added in a variety of transitions to help improve my ident. Some transitions I have added was a water drop effect and a right move transition. I had decided to choose these transitions because I wanted to add an affect where the audience would be interested and drawn into the ident and the channel. Furthermore, I had also placed a music track that is just below the footage. This is going to be in the background when recording my voiceover to keep the audience engaged and not create boredom. To finish off my ident I had placed a red background and inserted text. This is so then the logo of the channel can be represented clearly. For example, at the very end of the ident, I had placed a transition to fade to black. This is shown during the ending of the footage of the screenshot. This would be an effect that would help present the next programme that was going to show. In this case my show was Homes Under The Hammer.

Production Week Diary/Report 

Attached below is a report showing evidence on what I did throughout the weeks of my production. 

Here in this picture, I am setting up my phone so that I can conduct a time lapse for my ident. As I only needed to film the sky I was able to film this scene in the school. This occurred in week 2 of my production. 

In this picture, I am setting up the camera and using my storyboard to find out what particular scene I needed to film. I was outside of school in school time when shooting this scene as I needed to film a scene with cars. 

Here is the evidence on where I had to find out how to get to get to London to film particular scenes of my idents. I had to look up the best possible and time efficient routes to get there. Due to the timings of my journey, I had to film these particular scenes in my spare time. However, I had filmed this in my week 2.  

This was taken during the second week of production. This is where I had decided to reshoot the time lapse of the sky, however I had also filmed the walking scene with one of my classmates from class. This picture shows me discussing to my classmate on what I would like him to film outside with me so that I can finish off filming my ident.  

In this picture, I had to reshoot scenes so that my ident that would make more sense. This was filmed in production week 4. During this I had to pull down a white screen and set up the equipment needed to present the show BBC News. I placed another camera and tripod in this scene to film this scene.

LO2 - Legal, Moral and Ethical Issues (P3, M2)

When creating media products, there are multiple issues that I will need to consider. These are:

• Legal issues - When I am planning and creating my idents, I will need to look at a variety of regulations that could impact the media product. 
• Moral and Ethical issues - Moral issues are when someone has their own personal perspective. Whereas ethical issues are when I need to take into account the values and morals of the society.

When I am filming my idents, I will need to consider the following: 

Ident 1

• Legal issues - When I am in the production stage of the ident, I will need to look at the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. The reason for this is that I when filming my idents, I need to ensure that I don't copy scenes that have been used without permission of the other channels. 
• Moral and Ethical issues - When I am filming my ident, I may need to consider what genders are in them. This is to ensure that I don't offend anyone and do what is ethically correct.  

Ident 2

• Legal issues - When I am in the production stage of the ident, I will need to look at the Freedom of Information Act. The reason for this is that I when filming my idents, I will need to ask people for permission to film. This means that I will need to be open about the filming of my idents and tell them information about it.  
• Moral and Ethical issues - When I am filming my ident, I may need to consider what music I am using. This is to ensure that I don't ethically offend the audiences once the ident is launched. 

Ofcom.

Ofcom is responsible for regulating television for the UK. Ofcom guidelines consider the suitability of the content of TV programmes to limit harm to audiences. For example, movies and certain idents may not be shown due to the content that is used and may not be suitable for younger audiences. 

There are a few aspects of Ofcom that might impact both of my idents. Some of these aspects are:

• Misinterpretation 
• Appropriateness 
• Protecting the Under-Eighteens: Observing the watershed on television and music videos

Constraint	Summarise the constraint.	Weakness - how might your work be an issue.	Action points - Skills, logistics, changes to the idea.
Ofcom code of practice - Misinterpretation	Misinterpretation is when the audience is being shown specific content that is not matching to the actual channel.	In my idents, I might show the key locations of London which could indicate that my idents are representing that the channel is about London when it is about showing multiple aspects of BBC One.	To ensure that this message is not misinterpreted, I will add a voiceover to my idents. This will then ensure that there is a clear idea for the audience to understand and avoid the misinterpretation of my idents.
Ofcom code of practice - Appropriateness	Appropriateness is ensuring that my idents are sensible to present on TV.	In my idents I will be filming students from school and children playing football. This needs to be appropriate as the actors may wear clothes that are not appropriate for the channel.	To ensure that the idents are sensible I will need to ensure that the actors are wearing the appropriate clothing to prevent the reputation of BBC One from being damaged.
Ofcom code of practice - Protecting the Under-Eighteens: Observing the watershed on television and music videos	Protecting the Under-Eighteens: Observing the watershed on television and music videos is ensuring that the content is protected for below eighteen.	In my idents, I will be filming students and actors. In some scenes of the idents, they may be speaking. This means that they may say the wrong thing that will make the audience under eighteen unprotected.	One way to ensure that this does not occur is that I will need to ensure that I put together a script to ensure that I control what the actors are saying. This means that the below the eighteen audience will be protected.
Copyright (requirement, owner, clearance, cost)	Copyright is when I am using a piece of work that is not mine.	In my idents, I may use some of the music from BBC One and YouTube.	In order that I don’t get copyrighted, I will need to ask for permission to use the tracks/content.
Royalties	This is where payments are being sent to the original owner due to the use of their music.	In my idents I may have to pay the owner if I use their music.	In order for me to mitigate this problem I will need to ensure that I negotiate with the owner and come up with a small percentage which I will pay them.
Misrepresentation	This is when the channel is being presented one way and the ident is showing another way.	In my idents, it might show elements that might not be representing the BBC One channel.	To ensure that this message is not misrepresented I will need to ensure that I show the ident to the audience and collect feedback before it has released.
